Donor Families at the Tree of Hope
HILLSBOROUGH GARDEN FESTIVAL MAY 18th to May 20th
This year the Organ Transplant Forum will be taking up the U105 challenge to design and build a garden to be displayed at the Garden Festival at Hillsborough Castle. Teams are given a set budget and timeframe within which they must complete their garden in the style of the original Groundforce.
There will be butterfly stensils available to transplanted patients, donor families and anyone who signs the Donor register, to colour in and write a message on the reverse. They will then be invited to walk from the Old Life Garden through the Causeway onto the NEW LIFE GARDEN where the butterfly will be tied by a colourful ribbon either to the Tree of Hope or the Heart Centrepiece. By the end of the 3 days we hope to have NEW LIFE GARDEN full of colourful butteflies representing full endorsement of Organ Donation.
The garden, (approximately 3 metres x 3 metres) will on the theme of ‘organ transplantation’. The construction day for the garden will be on 17th May at the castle and we are looking for volunteers to help. So if you feel that you have ‘green fingers’ or would like to promote organ donation at the festival, please contact William Johnston at willjohnston1@hotmail.co.uk. Young Renal Patients at the Panto
On Saturday, January 21st, NIKPA were delighted to arrange a visit to the Pantomime at the Royal Opera House in Belfast for some very special VIPs. The VIP's in question were renal patients from the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children. The kids and the parents had an unforgettable and magical experience enjoying the excellent performance. Thanks to all those who have supported NIKPA in being able to provide some fun for these children (and some of the adults!).
Big Day Out 2011
Once again NIKPA's Big Day Out at Portrush is a Big Success for over 200 renal patients and family members.
